Data Mapper Public Beta Testing

Welcome to the public beta-test site for the Oakland Software Data Mapper.

The Data Mapper consists of a designer which is used to create and test maps and a command line-based runtime which is used to execute maps in batch mode.

Download

All you need to start with is the designer. You should download the runtime version only after you have become familiar with the designer and prepared some maps for execution.

You need Java 5 or higher installed and must be running Linux on an x86 processor with GTK.

Mac OS X

You need Java 5 or higher installed.

Support

If you need support or want to provide feedback, you can either , or request support directly within the product using the Request Support menu item in the Help menu as shown below.

Known Issues

  1. The documentation is slightly out of date and incomplete in some areas, in particular, the database functionality is not documented.

  2. The database functionality is incomplete with respect to database writing, it will only do inserts (and not updates). Also, database reading will not handle large numbers of rows, as the data of the map must currently fit in memory (due to the limitations of the underlying X/Query engine). Both of these will be addressed in the near future, the latter by a streaming engine.

  3. On the Mac, selecting "About..." in the Apple menu has no effect, however selecting "About..." in the Help menu works fine.
